Recap of 61st TES Conference

The 61st Annual Illinois Traffic Engineering and Safety (TES) Conference was held successfully. ITE members were proud to have helped out in the event. ITE, as a student organization, helped with connecting students to professionals by getting the word out. Free registration was open to UIUC students which attracted people to come and learn about the recent developments in the transportation sector both nationally (policy, MAP-21) and locally (Illinois’ traffic safety projects).  Our volunteers also helped with registration, setup presentations and guide presenters while exhibiting professionalism and respect.

It was also a perfect platform for underclassmen to investigate what transportation is about.  We held a student-practitioner forum in which several working professionals from private industry from AECOM, Baxter & Woodman, Civiltech, Cornerstone Knight Engineers & Architects, Parsons Brinckerhoff, and Thouvenot, Wade & Moerchencame came to sit with students to talk about their work.  In this casual environment, students were able to get a first-hand perspective of their own career paths and experiences.  The UIUC student chapter of ITE thanks the Illinois ITE chapter for sponsoring the event and all of the panelists for their time!
